Femara (Letrozole) Cycle Instructions

Femara or Letrozole is an oral medication commonly used to stimulate ovulation in women who do not ovulate on their own. Common side effects include abnormal uterine bleeding,stomach upset, bloating, abdominal/pelvic fullness, hot flashes, breast tenderness, headache or dizziness.

If you have changes in your vision or eyepain, stop the medication immediately and seek help. A rare but serious event known as Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome may also occur and should prompt you to seek immediate medical help. Using Femara to conceive also increases your risk of multifetal pregnancy. About 5-10% of pregnancies conceived with Femara are twin pregnancies (normal risk is about 1%). It is not recommended to do more than six (6) rounds of treatment with Letrozole.

• Your first day of menses is Cycle Day (CD) 1
• Take Femara on CD 3-7
• Start Ovulation Predictor Kits (OPK) on CD 9
• When you have a positive OPK have intercourse within 24 hours
• Take a pregnancy test daily starting on CD 25-35
• If negative, repeat the Femara cycle
